Legolas Knives in Progress by Celyddon Legolas Knives in Progress by Celyddon
Here's the dual knives I'm making for my Ranger character; they're based entirely off of Legolas' knives from the Lord of the Rings movies.  I've taken heavily from the reference shots on alleycatscratch.com; it is an incredibly helpful site where it comes to LOTR.

The blades are full tang and were carved from 1/4" thick poplar wood with a standard scroll saw, and the handles are 1/2" thick EVA foam that was hot-glued down then carved to shape with a rotary tool.

The gold decorative plates I have already cut out of styrene--they simply need to be hot glued down--and the filigree portions were cut out of standard printer paper; those will be glued down to the styrene after they have been painted.  Once everything is painted, it will be lacquered, probably with Mod Podge Hard Coat.

The handles will be sprayed with Plasti-Dip for a smoother finish, then painted brown.  I don't know if I will have time for the filigree bits on the handles before TRF.  If I do, I will likely use the same method as for the blade.

These are the first wooden props I have ever made; I'm attempting to upgrade my weapons to wood for higher durability.
