Lady Sif Armor Progress by Celyddon Lady Sif Armor Progress by Celyddon
Here's a quick picture of breastplate version 2.  The original was made from EVA foam, and I'm honestly not happy with it because of its thickness and lack of flexibility.  This second version is made from thinner craft foam, a single layer of paper mache to hold the foam in place, and styrene.  The gaps will be filled in with FastMache (with rubber cement on top for flexibilty in the paint surface).  Then I'll prime as needed and paint; the extra layering/texturing will be done with 2mm craft foam and burgundy microsuede.  I made the armor around my duct tape dummy so that it would fit me better.

Not included in the picture are the gauntlets and pauldrons, which are also craft foam and styrene.  I haven't done the greaves yet.  I have some clear 16 gauge vinyl for strapping to use on the pauldrons.  I'm simulating her chainmail armor with athletic mesh that has been painted with metallic silver acrylics (and carefully cut to keep the rings in the mesh whole at the borders).

Looking really nice.  Especially glad you worked out the curves issues. ;)

Curious to see the guantlets, especially if you could give some info on the construction process.

I will cover the gauntlet construction in next week's episode of our podcast.  :)  It's actually very straightforward.
